Hey guys,

I have finally finished the initial processing of my images from June 11-14. You can view the complete set here:

I wasn't expecting to see so many Bison. They were everywhere, but especially abundant in the northeastern part of the park (Lamar Valley) near where we stayed in Silver Gate. It is a great time of the year to be in the park with wildlife, wildflowers and wateralls flowing everywhere.

I had decided to focus more on waterfalls and less on wildlife. But once there I couldn't resist. Although the longest lens I brought was my 70-200L with 1.4 TC. Waterfalls have always been a passion of mine. There are so many in Yellowstone that I feel I just barely scratched the surface. More to explore for next time for sure.

Next I have to begin processing my Grand Teton images. So more to come once those are done. :wavey:

Wow you've got a lot of great shots in there! One suggestion I have is that you could edit your collection down to only the best shots... there seems to be a lot of almost-duplicates in there.

Thanks for the compliments Jack,

Yes I agree about the number. The hardest part was going from thousands to ~ 70 I like. I plan to pare them down to about a third the size , a sort of best of the best, and put them on my photography website. This was more or less an initial cut on my photo sharing site (zenfolio) for friends and family to see.

Derek, nice shots buddy! did the 1.4x on your 200 help much?I am torn between getting one or a 400mm.

John,

The 1.4 TC helped a lot. I used it for a number of shots both handheld and on a tripod. That said I would still like to get a 400L or 100-400L for the distance shots like the ones of the grizzly and little ones. The TC can be used with both lenses by taping the pins so that autofocus can be achieved.

The thing about Yellowstone is that some animals are *so* close a zoom like the 70-200L + TC is all that is needed for many shots. But I would have used the 400 + TC for distant stuff for sure.

Very nice photos. I am surprised by how close you got to the bear.
Thanks for sharing.
