Puffin flight
Hi to all,
Farnes Puffin , photographed on it's way back from fishing , these little birds travel at a tremendous speed and I found tracking them handheld with the 300mmF4IS a real struggle ( Oh why didn't I take the 500 and the Gimbal  ) , this shot is the sharpest ( term used loosely  ) of the bunch , any thoughts on the comp???

Levels , Usm(150,0.3,3 x3) , S/h , cropped.

Canon 20D and 300mmF4IS
1/3200 @F4 iso200 jpeg

All comments welcome

Kind regards
Andy...

Hi Andy,
They come in like missiles don't they, no hanging about. As for the comp its always nice to have the subject coming towards you and you have space for it to come into, so that bits OK. I'm not sure about the OOF land its not the prettiest, perhaps some PS blur to make it less distracting.
Even with the 500mm and gimbal it wouldn't have been easy so don't kick yourself too much.

What's with all this gimbal-stuff for a 500 - be a 'geezer' and handhold it

Conditions look a bit grim so I think you did a good job and the comp look fine - agree with Tim about the OoF bits :wavey: :toast:

Except for the large black rock on the right, I really like the foreground elements. I think you've done well and I would be happy with this image.
