Winter is my season. Almost all of my favorite images were taken in Winter. All of my favorite hikes were in Winter. The experience of Winter in the mountains is like nothing else. Standing atop this jagged, frigid peak, watching the world around me change color and atmosphere in complete solitude was a memorable one. How it would be so different now.

Very nice Marc; love the light! The view reminds me of Nanny Peak in the Goat Rock Wilderness.

Marc, great capture of a flooded valley--flooded with light that is. I'll bet this was an incredible experience. The no filters part is a testament to the awesome light here.

Marc,
That's no doubt what sets your images apart. The time and effort you put into getting to hard to reach places. This image really portrays solitude and mood of one of those places. I love this shot. If I had a nit, it would be the patch of what I would assume are clearcuts in the upper right of the image. Not tough to clone out if you were so inclined to do so.
Wonderful winter light purely captured. A testament again to your passion for getting the magical image.
The background is very strong; however I feel the foreground weakens the image as a whole. The two pieces of rock compete with each other for attention, and as a unit compete with the stronger background.
OMG dude...yup..."it" probably would have puckered so much, it would have melted shut for good!
Actually, You know I have a fear of heights from first hand experience. My goal is to get me over that in the next six months. I dont want to really rock climb or do anything crazy, just get sure footed...
Really beautiful light captured here. There is magic in this shot. I am on the fence about the FG rocks though. On one hand, they add depth and somewhat anchor the picture. On the other hand, I keep feeling like I want to crawl out onto them to get a better view. I keep wishing to see behind them. Part of me things they are almost too dominant.
Ahhhh... sssiiiiighhhh.... How gorgeous the light. Love the fg rocks! This could actually be one of my favorites of yours. It's dramatic, yet peaceful and warm. (That is to say, from an armchair point of view! I know you said it was shockingly cold and windy up there.)
