...and wanting to save a few quid, then head over to the PhaseOne website - they have it up at Euro99 + Vat - works out at about £83 (inc danish VAT @25%). That gives a saving of £28 compared to the Amazon price of £111.

At the moment you should still get the upgrade from iView Pro to MS Expression media - but you might like to double check that before buying .

Hi Nick

This is where my version of iView comes from and yes - you do get the upgrade for free (until the end of July I believe)

I use iView and find it invaluable, however it has not been without its problems. Now owned by Microsoft, anyone thinking of buying/upgrading should read this if it's critical to your workflow:

or

or

and plenty more if you can be bothered looking in the forum posts.

I lost months of work when I upgraded year before last, and all my saved catalogs and filing got trashed (including my backup because the problem was not obvious), I still have serious ongoing problems that iView cannot fix in over a year of trying, and last year after complaining to them for months that the Alamy WIzard they offered was unusable because it had a fundamental programming errror, they assured me their Alamy Wizard "has no problems, we have thousands of users who have not complained". This was followed by an email 6 months later saying that I was correct and they'd made a major error and all the metadata fields were wrongly mapped so that the Wizard was incapable of functioning properly - exactly as I had informed them.

iView MP is a great piece of software, and I'd be lost without it, but I have to devise ways to work around its failings. I recently upgraded again, and it was so bad I removed it from my system and reverted to the previous version. I would advise current users or new users to research this thoroughly before you leap.

The revised scripts are being rolled out at the moment although they seem to be working on the MAC versions first.

To be fair - I have converted my catalog from iView to Expression with no problems whatsoever. It must have been due to timing I suppose and that I was lucky that by the time I converted all was OK.

Hi John,

That's why I've posted the link through to PhaseOne - at least people still have chance to get the older working iView version at the moment at a reduced price, and get the option to upgrade to the Micro$oft version later (once they fix their fixes ). Soon it'll only be the MS version available - and at the moment I wouldn't like to pay full price for that!

I upgraded last night, initial problems but now all sorted, and it appears to be stable but slightly slower
