There's so much going on in the Flora forum, it's overwhelming. Great subjects portrayed creatively is what is so exciting. Some subjects common, others I've not seen before-- even my most recent post was something new to me.

So forgive me for being kinda lazy by posting here. Just want to congratulate everyone for all the good work in flora lately. It's impossible to comment on every one of them like I would want to... And I would hate to be the one choosing the Pick every week. Kudos to Nathan for that. Flora just continues to rock on!

Catherine -

Yes, flora is amazing. Bill is now moderator, however. I don't know why flora is so good, as good as ESS, where so many images are so sweet it's hard to comment on all of them. Are the photographers just learning more by observation??

I think observation helps a lot. I also think that people are more inspired to get out and shoot when they can see some great work. And yes, thankfully it is not I who has to chose a new shot each week for the picks - Bill is doing a great job at that (and I don't just say that because I was last week's pick ).

Flora is my favorite forum on the site too. Great group of photographers posting interesting images and offering objective comments. If I were not out in the field so often I'd pop in more frequently. ...David

 Oh, dear me... Oh, my... Bill, I'm sorry! It's you! It's YOU who moderates flora and are doing such a great job! Thanks for that and for the "musings," too, which I read every week. Love that! :jump:

From what I've seen from Bill, both here and in there, you can blame him. Hes done a great job in driving that forum and promoting it IMO. Heres too ya Bill :toast: :toast:

This topic is just what I was looking for in this moment. Right now I have finished to see and comment the floral photos posted in the last day (06.28/29). I still have my eyes full of beauties and I need to share this pleasure. Really this is a splendid forum. I don't know who or what has the merit: the editor, the moderator, a group of entusiasts, people very kind and helpfull; or they all? I am filling my soul of elegance, beauty, emotions, lights, colors. This is a treasure by itself that I add to the photographic improvement and inspiration received.
Thanks to someone or many.
Cheers.

I appreciate the thanks for my role and concede that it may be partly responsible but Flora was growing and glowing before I became moderator. Where I think Flora shines is that we have folks worldwide posting some wonderful images that are just plain fun to view. I also think Flora is unique in that no matter where a person lives there are great subjects close at hand. As much as I love ES&S, it is heavily represented by folks in the western U.S. Frankly, I wish I was one of them. There's not much grand landscape near Houston. So it goes. I also think Flora and ES&S have the most faithful participants who make it a point to post and comment. When that happens there quickly devleops a spirit of community where folks are at once encouraged and challenged. Its a nice snowball effect. And what is really gratifying is that we can see new members participating and improving right before our eyes.

One last comment is my personal note of thanks to Danny for his kind words but more importantly for his impact on my photography and my participation in NPN. For those of you who are somewhat new, Danny is on another planet when it comes to macro excellence. When I first joined NPN several years ago I think he was the macro moderator. He was certainly a very active participant. My first postings were mostly butterflies. Some were OK, many were mediocre, and a lot were just awful. But Danny would comment on every one and find something positve to say. There were times where finding something good took a lot of effort. I never forgot that and have tried to emulate that style of leadership. So a tip o' the cap to you M8T. It's all your fault. >=))>

LOL, thanks Bill. I think most know that my head at least is on another planet, way out there somewhere and its bound to be in a vacuum for sure M8t  Thanks Bill but you are one heck of a moderator and leader in my book. And don't forget that mountain  :toast:

We are so fortunate to have so many talented photogs participating in these forums, people who have a real passion for their photography, people so willing to help others, people without self-promotional agendas. These are the people who make the experience so rewarding - our sincere thanks to all of you! :toast:

The flora forum has indeed captured my imagination. Thanks to Bill and all the other marvelous photographers who contribute toward it.

I am considering photographing flowers [again] in the near future and so I might be spending more time there.

Time has restricted me from looking at other forums (other than what I post in) lately. I was shocked to see how many posts are going on in flora! . It's really great to see, but it makes me feel guilty that I do not look or post in there much.

So much high quality work! GEEZ! :toast:
