Hello, all though I'm still lacking for time I have managed to get out and take images of the last two storms we had come through the last couple of days.
This image was taken just before things got interesting. There was lightning present and that was my original goal, but as usual it all flashed outside of camera view.
The high winds prevented a lot of the fg from being sharp, but I thought I would share this one with you all. I have a couple more, but I have them sized to over 720 on the longest end and I'm not certain if the guidlines apply to regional forums or not. Until I find the time to resize them then this will be the only one I post.
My wife commented that one thing she'll miss about the Midwest is how quick big storms blow up around here. It sure was dramatic on Wed. afternoon here too.
This image really says "Midwest". You did a good job featuring the clouds (Main Subject) and not pitting toe boundary of the clouds & the plants right in the middle of the frame. I keep looking past the grassy horizon to see whats out there... that's very interesting as well.
The GND really made this work and I actually love the movement. I don't think this would win any contests ( nor does an image need to to be a good one in my book), but it's a winner to me just as well!.

I think it would be a really cool study of textures and turmoil if this was pushed to B+W. To me, the color differential and impact isn't strong enough, and kind of distracts. Once removed, I think the strong textures will make the image.

Robert, I really like the drama in the sky and the ominous feeling of being exposed (pardon the pun) to the approaching storm. When I look at this image, I want to crop about half the sky and half the grass and make it horizontal--with the focus on the most dynamic part of the sky.
The simplicity of this image is really nice. I enjoy exploring the different layers of cloud and earth. Personally, I like the subtlety of the color version here that would be lost on a high contrast black and white rendition. Although people seem to gravitate towards drama, I don't necessarily think its always the right thing to communicate with every single image. This is very nice as is. Good work Robert.

Thanks, folks. I agree the image isn't a strong one, but it does convey the typical midwest view. I do have some stronger and more colorful images from the storm yet to resize as mentioned.
Rob- I considered B&W but haven't played around with it in order to see what comes out. I will try it my next days off - which from the looks of things are going to be ten days away. I'm putting in the extra hours to pay for another lens and a vacation so I have to sacrafice a little.
CJ I did take a few horizontals, but decided on the vertical comp. The sky wasn't very interesting at the time outside of what I posted. I may post the horizontals in the future.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.
I would like to see what it looks like in B&W.
