Nestled within the breadbasket of the cascades sits this jewel of an area. A stretch that extends beyond lakes embodying variable shades of aqua. The larch provides the prime source of allure in the fall; as nature enthusiasts gander in enjoyment as the vividly-gold needles speckle the ground; creating intricate patterns spotted by those who also keep an eye on the below. Standing close to these mountains as the gentle breeze cools your skin and the flapping of the raven's wings pierces the silence is a moment that stays firmly implanted to memory for years to come; I know I haven't forgotten.

This image was captured with the old manual pentax medium format 6x7; a camera with the anvil-like weight that would make anybody reluctant to haul it up this rather extended hike/scramble. I used a fixed 55mm and a grad filter. Thank you for your time.

That would be velvia working its charm.

Beautiful image! So I challenge those DPR'ers to look at actual Velvia shots like this before tearing down others' work, eh (see The Price of Celebrity thread)?

Trevor,
Moving words, eloquently crafted. The area looks wonderful and the comp is good, but the blue is over blue in my opinion, which detracts from the overall scene.
