Pied Flycatcher 'male'
Taken in Wales in the garden where I was staying - the birds were so tame you could stand with your camera in the open and photograph them going in and out of the nestbox. The only downside very little light under the tree canopy.

Canon 1D Mk11 + 500 1/60 f4.5 iso 500

Very nice indeed, as you say the sunlight under the canopy, from the TLHS, has made it hard to control the white on the wing but I can still see defination there...

Super shot David. :toast:

They certainly are trusting little birds and a pleasure to photograph.

Absolutely gorgous shot.
Never seen one, myself.
Looks to have a blueish sheen on my monitor, is it supposed to have that hue?

An excellent image of a classic Welsh bird and given the problems of under-canopy lighting, the exposure is very well judged; how was it achieved?

Hi Marcus

Natural light, no flash at minus one stop!

Brilliant David - nearly as good as another 'Pied Flycatcher on Foxglove' shot I saw recently on the Avian forum!
