After watching a documentary on this area, I have this urge to take a road trip. My question to you is, have you been there, and if so where did you find was the best area to go. Fall, spring, summer, winter.....any suggestions would be great.....

if you have any pics of the area, I would be interested in seeing those too

Alt, David (2001). Glacial Lake Missoula & its Humongous Floods. Mountain Press Publishing Company.

Darren, The above book is interesting, My copy is at my brothers or I would get it to you. Dry falls is probably to most photogenic because even it's massive scale is smaller the most everything else. Thats why all the photos on google are sats.

I like it best in Fall - lots of nice, tawny hues, and the weather has cooled off a bit. I've done Spring trips to Central Washington and been soaked by unpredicted storms. Plus, in the Fall, you can also head up into some of the higher country in the area and catch aspens in autumn color (October).

My favorite spot is probably Dry Falls, but there are also sand dunes and hundreds of ponds in the Potholes area - I've just been there once, but it was pretty interesting.
