Taken this evening after a day of strong showers.
This evenings sunshine was a warm welcome.
This Barn Owl flew into a small copse and was quite happy on the perch it found surveying the ground below.
Had only a very small window through a gap in the surrounding hedge.
D2x 300mm AFS 2.8 + 1.7 conv.
Some hand held some from the car window.
Yes brilliant shot Major, barn owl is one of my most wanted pics

What a cracking shot, how I'd love to see one of these owls (any owl for that matter ) out in the wild.
2 very minor nits - I agree with Andy about there being a bit too much space at the top and I think I'd clone or tone down the bright line just to the right bottom of the owl.
No shortage of the exotic then Major, I quite like the space. I like working with the 300mm and TC's makes you think more about making a picture what you say Major?
I dont know why Tim perhaps its my trip to Lesvos.
Lots of stuff there pretty close. At times of late the 600mm is just too big and a bit of a beast to handle.
In this case it was so much easier to handle especialy when I got out of the car.
I started off life with the 300mm + 2x conv, but the 1.7 just seems to come in handy of late.
