OK, so I couldn't come up with a better name! It really should be called "Then and Then....."
I came across the top image in my archives a year or so back when Roger Rouch and I were talking about Forest Road 390, near Clear Creek Res, in the Collegiates. At that time I knew I had the bottom image somewhere also, but never found it. Lo and behold I found it yesterday, and it was on my hard drive all along! Wonderful system I have!
Anyway, here they are, together at last! The first one was taken maybe seven or eight years ago in later October, hence no yellow leaves left. The second one was a year or two later in early October. It took me a couple passes along he road near Vicksburg to find the spot again, but luckily not too long. I had taken an extra 4x5 transparency of the first image along, and was able to line things up quite nicely for the second. Thanks for looking!
Both images:
Wista 45DX
180mm lens
Fuji Velvia 50

Interesting juxtaposition, Brent. Nice job lining up the second shot. I like the contrast of colors.

How 'bout "Then and Thener"? And when you add another one you can do "Then, Thener and Thenerer"!
Both shots seems to have an inner glow that really makes them sing. (ah, dontcha just love mixed metaphors?) For not having any of the classic gold leaves, that first one sure still is a powerful image.
Brent, I've always liked the photo of this area you've had on your web site. This pair is an incredibly close match. For lack of being able to think of good descriptors on my own, they both really do have a glow to them.
I suppose my visits to this little out the way place are in the "then" category, but it offered a little peace and solitude in some harder days. So has been a special place and nice to see a reminder and different perspectives. I've always been surprized another photographer stopped along here to gaze at this little unexpected gem of an aspen grove.
Both are really sweet intimate portraits. Great job lining them us so closely - it really lets the eye take in the differences in color. I always like the effect of filtered light on the trunks, making the edges glow ever so slightly. Nice!!
Yeah, a four season here would be fun!!! I can't remember exactly where they close the road for the winter, but I'd guess it would be about a 3-4 mile snowshoe/ski in to this spot. Might have to give that some thought!!! :)

I like them both. This might be the start of an interesting "four seasons" collage?

So far, this is the only four season shot I've pulled off.
Thanks again everyone!
