Earth Above, Sky Below
I'm not sure if this works. It was taken at Mirror Lake in Yosemite last month. I've always thought it was too busy, with too many reflections. Thanks for your comments.

that huge rock just seems like it does not belong

It feels forced to me, Richard.

Beautiful area, great processing...but the comp isn't hitting the mark for me. I like that you are trying something different...

I'm with the others.... also, the reflection seems a tad too bright.

It's a purdy picture... but I agree... something just feels odd... can't put my finger on what it is though... Maybe John is onto something with the brightness of the reflection.

I've tried this kind of shot too... Haven't really succeeded with it yet, but there has to be a way :)

I really like this image, Richard - it's a "yin and yang" composition, and it works for me, except for the left border. Instead of trying to explain a suggested crop, I've attached a version - hope you don't mind! I didn't try, but a bit off the bottom might be useful, too.

I also like the soft colors. They capture the Sierra Nevada feeling really nicely.

I like this image, but I agree with Tom's crop suggestion, and I would burn in the sky as well. It has potential though.

Yep, I'm glad I stumbled across this forum, too, Richard. I had kind of given up on a constructive, substantive online photography forum! Glad you found it, too - I always enjoy your pics. You've got a unique perspective!
