Yeah, another waterfall shot from me. Let me know what you guys think. I have a feeling this one may be a bit dark too. I'll be looking into getting all of that fixed.
Anyway, this was taken last October and I think this was my very first outing with my DSLR.
yep this one is really dark, and it doesn't quite work for this image I like the comp though, and you got some nice color. I think if the FG shadows had a bit more detail, it would really bump this up a notch.
This shot almost makes me wish it was Fall already... I saiid ALMOST!

For starters, the leaves could have been better placed.
I wont say its too dark because I like the deeper colors here...
I like this photo. I like the darkness, but there might be a little too much detail lost in the shadows. The rock and leaves in the forground are a nice touch, but I feel like they are too prominent here.

Maybe 1 leaf ? Feels too staged and is a bit dark....
I'm certainly guilty of "improving" on nature by moving a few leaves, pinning back branches or even clearing debris from a stream in some cases. In the case of placing leaves, my reality check is whether the foreground that I've "arranged" is believably consistent with the background in color and content.
I've attached an image of a familiar scene from three years ago that I've always regretted going a bit too far on with the arranged details in the LLC. In this case, I should stuck with the general color of the leaves in the scene, and the contrast with the moss would have been really nice. Instead, I couldn't resist yellow leaves, and it looks obviously staged and over-saturated.
...looking at that post, now, I guess I should mention that I originally was covering up the moss with brown leaves, since it was somewhat overwhelming in the corner of the frame. That's a completely different purpose in staging a scene, so I think if I'd stayed within that purpose of toning down an element, as opposed to ramping up an element, it would have been a more successful shot.

IMO the foreground kills the shot
