Mourning Dove
I was walking through the wetlands and walked right up on this MD in the shade...comments appreciated.

Lance,

Great find!

What I like: the varied, warm light which is soft enough not to create hotspots or distracting shadows.
What I dislike: The placement of the bird. The dove is centered and the eye (the focal point) and line-of-sight lead me right out of the frame too quickly. A crop from the bottom and right would help.

Keep these great bird images coming!

Nice shot of the MD but I agree with Richard a different crop would help.

Great input. This is exactly the kind of suggestion I hoped to receive.

To be honest, I was so excited about stumbling upon the MD right in front of me, I didn't think as much about the composition as I should have.

I think this keeps the viewers' eyes in the picture with a better "visual flow."

You know there's a limit to how much room a dove really needs. Right? You could even crop off some more from the top.
