Well hopefully it's stopped raining where you are. After 4 days of almost constant rain there were bright overcast skies this morning so I got out and made some shots in my yard. I find water lillies hard to shoot for some unexplained reason. Does this comp work for you?

Beautiful shot, Wayne! Composition, color, sharpness all look superb to me! I have backyard waterlillies too, but they are uglier than sin. Thanks for sharing.
I think your composition is fine, Wayne. Nice vivid colors, and plenty of detail too.
I wish you would send some of that rain our way. Seems like it rains a little once or twice a day, but not enought to get the creeks moving. Although, I did see that the gage at Carver went up about 10 feet (humm, I wonder if the Rainbows moved downriver...).
Wayne, I like you compostion and the colors are really good. Keep up the good work.
Bill, the creeks are running just north of Forth Smith. I paddled Clear Creek today and it was running very well! Lee Creek, Clear Creek and Frog Bayou should have good water for the next few days. There were some pretty nice waterfalls coming into the creeks! There should be some good photos to be had.
Beautiful shot! The light is just perfect. You must have quite a yard between the amazing lillies and colorful ivy you've posted.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments. This turned out to be one of my better attempts at the water lillies. This particular plant is now 16 years old and still blooming profusely.
Angela, while not by any particular foresight or design vision, our backyard has evolved over the course of 16 years into a very nice wildlife environment. I've counted over 12 species of birds at one time before and we have had rabbits, possum, red fox, coyote, deer, wild turkey, great blue heron and now a red tailed hawk that hunts fairly regularly at my feeders. Add to that the goldfish, bullfrogs and occasional snakes and it's a pretty nice place to soak up the flora & fauna.
Our ornamental water garden was featured in Birds & Blooms magazine back in 2003 and I've since had our backyard certified with the National Wildlife Foundation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. It's just our small way of giving back to nature, but truth be known, we're the lucky ones!
