tethered shooting - figured it out!

I know that nature photographers are not the most common tethered shooters - but, I have asked Nikon and they say it is an Adobe Lightroom issue and Adobe says, well you can guess. . .

I will be shooting the AOS awards on my own next Saturday and have decided that my best chance of getting good images of what may be a wide variety of plants in a studio setting is to shoot with my D200 tethered to my laptop. That way, in spite of my poor eyesight, I can do a thorough review of each image on the spot.

I posted a question about which software to use in Nikonians and was told that Lightroom works, which sounds good because I already have it.

But, I can't get it to work. I have reset my f7 to USB P2P (rather than mass storage) and have enabled shutter release without a CF card. I have set up a test folder in Lightroom, enabled auto-upload and set it to fill the preview pane. Everything seems fine - all settings look normal on the camera and the lens will even auto-focus, but the shutter will not trip!

I hope there is someone here who can help me.

Okay. I have my answers. Because I could not get the shutter to release using Lightroom, I paid Nikon for a copy of Camera Control Pro. ($69.95)

I was quite dissatisfied with the image output to my laptop, using CCP - so, I decided to see what would happen if I also opened LR and designated the target folder for upload as one I created in LR.

VOILA! I am in business!

And, uh-oh, now that I can really preview my shots, I am having fun playing in the shallow end!

Can't wait to see what this brings, and just in time for the new Theme Weeks in Flora. :toast:
