A rather strange shot here...just wondering about opinions regarding this. This rock formation caught my imagination as I wandered the shores of Lake Superior earlier this spring. I found it at sunset, and composed the image just after the sun went below the horizon. There was a still a faint glow of color that reflected off the water, but the sun was setting fast - to the point that I kept having to add extra exposure time. I imagined a great sea creature emerging from the deep. All opinions and suggestions are welcome, thanks.

Tech Stuff: Tachihara 4x5, Fujinon 90mm, Provia 100f, 4.5 min exposure.

I like it Joel, the way the rock seems to be emerging from the deep makes it resemble a sea monster, the color is great as well. Great work as usual.

Come on, this is in the Caribbean!.

Rally nice and very different. Seeing is more than half the battle.

Really interesting shot, Joel. The colors are beautiful. The sense of depth draws me into the image.

Joel, I'm really digging this image - and the title is just perfect to help understand your thoughts. Those colors are lovely. One picky point that might just be my bad monitor, but it seems there is a slight blue cast on the rock above the water (which may also be the light you had).......

Nice work, CJ

Thanks guys. CJ - yeah, there's a blue cast because of the time of day. The version here is heavily corrected (the Provia slide was very, very blue), but I didn't want to remove that atmosphere entirely...tough call. You may be right about it needing to be removed further. Thanks for the crit!

Joel, this shot is very good. I love the under water view of the rock. Really a wonderful image and great eye for noticing. It really is cool to me.
