There is emerald point overlook above Dilion Res on Swam Mountain Road. It has a nice view of the 10 mile range overlooking the Dillion Res.
For hiking, the Crystal Lakes, Mohawk Lakes and the McCullough Gulch are all very scenic. There are large accessible meadows on Boreas Pass, Mt. Baldy and Red Mountain (Pennsylvania Creek). There might be good flowers in Horseshoe basin below Red Mountain/Red Peak this year since the snowfall was good. It seems like good wildflower country although I've only been there in the winter.
Often there are good wildflowers in patches on the ski area slopes, so it might be worthwhile to ride the lift up Peak 8 and hike down.
If you want to drive just a bit, you might check out Mayflower gulch. It's good for sunset if you don't have a low layer. Head towards Copper Mtn, take Hwy 91 toward Fremont Pass. About 5 miles from I-70, look for a large turn-out/parking area on the left, you'll be looking up Mayflower gulch just before you see the parking area. It's opposite the lower tailing ponds. I haven't been there in the summer but I'm sure it would be nice.
