Moraine Lake (yeah, it's an icon shot...)
Icons are icons for a reason, and I was definitely blown away by this place. We shot two sunrises here and were fortunate to have great light both days. I'm still sorting through a dozen or so shots that I really like from the lake, but this one jumped out at me as having one of the better skies.

What an incredible band of light! And the clouds covering the tip of the mountain. Awesome.

Did you also take this in landscape mode? Just wondering.

Rick, that band of light is great. It creates a very dramatic scene. The stick/log in the water in the lit reflection is a little distracting. You may want to try and clone that out.

As the others said, Rick. Great light!

Very cool, Rick! The band of light, blue sky, and reflection make a killer comp!

Very nice shot! I like the color of the light on the mountain and the clouds.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Lance, here's a horizontal version. Not bad, but I think the vertical emphasizes the light band more.

Steve, yeah that log doesn't thrill me, especially because it's in the light band reflection. I tried a quick attempt at healing and cloning prior to posting it, but given where it's at, it'll take more time to do it so that the removal doesn't leave noticeable effects when printing. There were many more logs on our second visit here - definitely adds a degree of difficulty when composing!

Sweet shot Rick! I think I like the vertical better as well. The first time I was up there for a sunrise I was lucky enough to get a band of light like that as well. It was an amazing sunrise to say the least...

Both look super nice. I like the vertical best. :toast:

The vertical totally rocks--that light band is fantastic!
