I am finally getting around to organizing my files so that I can find them when needed. However, I am planning to migrate from my PC to a Mac within a year - what DAM software is compatible with both platforms? I am currently trying out iMatch, which I believe exists only in the PC world and I don't want to have to go through this more than once.

Thanks for the advise and for at least US NPNers in the US, I hope you all had a happy and safe Fourth of July.

iView Media Pro, now Microsoft Expression Media is compatible.
Why don't you take a look at the websites of all the major players? All the info you're after should be there.
Look at Extensis Portfolio, iView Media Pro...can't remember the others at the moment.
Take a look at David Riecks Controlled Vocabulary site. He lists several programs.
Also be sure to visit Peter Krogh's The DAM Forum. Lots of great info there. In fact, it should probably be your first stop.

I second the iView Media Pro (Microsoft Expression Media) recommendation. The same license works on Windows and Mac so you can migrate from one to the other without getting a new license.
