I'm thinking up hiking up Twin Sisters this Saturday for sunrise. Can anyone give me an estimated hiking time for a moderately fast hiker? Anyone know if there's still snow on the trail?
I've done it before, but I just can't remember the timing. I got to the top just in the nick of time to catch the alpenglow on Longs. One thing I'd recommend is trying to get to the top a good half hour or so before sunrise. I say that because when I was there the most awesome color was the red-to-orange-blue dusk gradient in the eastern sky. I wish I could have gotten a shot of that but I was too busy hurrying up to the summit.
Erik, Bill and I hiked to the first good viewpoints (still below treeline) last month. It took about an hour. But there was still considerable snow on the trail, in spots, which I'm sure is gone now. Enjoy!

4 repliesPlan for 2 hours (I think it is 4 miles and approx 2800 ft gain). I was on it 4 weeks ago and there was snow on the upper half of the trail.
Note there are lots of excellent places above treeline for photos, you dont have to go all the way to the summit.
I am in Estes Park this weekend, maybe I will see ya!
