This image was taken on the same day (and about a hundred feet downstream) from the bridge photo I posted a couple of weeks ago. I'm kind of struggling with this one - the far stream bank isn't super interesting, but I liked the fern in the foreground, and the sweep of the creek. Tried a vertical crop, and that wasn't too satisfying. So suggestions and comments would be appreciated!

Hey, Tom, how about cropping a little off the top and lightening the water? The water is so dark it's not differentiated enough from the stream bank, I think; e.g., can't tell whether mossy rocks are in the stream or on the bank. To me that's what's making the comp so equivocal. What do you think? I think the image is worth trying some more processing. Hope you'll post it if you try some stuff.
I like this scene Tom. I agree that brightening it a bit, but not the creek highlights, would help substantially. It's just a beautiful forest scene. I like the the way the creek bisects the frame, the fern on the right side, and the placement of the groups of trees in the frame. I wish there wasn't a partial fern behind the one in the LLC. Nothing you can do about that though.
Tom this is probably my favorite of yours so far on the forum. What a great still fern there in front to anchor the comp. The far bank I actually find nice, pleasant, and free of any distracting red logs. Great exposure, looks almost perfect here. Stream flows nicely throughout the pic. Excellent, if I had this at my last Thursday art stand I can assure you it would get alot of attention.
