I've just joined as an NPN member! Apparently I need to wait for my photo uploading rights to be enabled. I apologize for the linked photo. I've just made a trial Smug membership so that I can get some feedback.
Hi Everyone. I've been lurking here for a couple of months after your photos inspired me to pick up a camera. I haven't taken many photos yet, and have even fewer "keepers." I've been editing on my calibrated (well...maybe) Dell laptop and noticed a significant color difference when compared to my calibrated Trinitron monitor. Now I need to figure out which is closer to the "truth." Along with comments and critiques on this photo, I'd appreciate your perception of it's color. On my laptop it is more of a cyan tone while the Trinitron shows blue. I know this is subjective.
This was taken the day after the Cascade Lakes Highway opened this spring (about my 2nd day with my camera). The Lake is a desolate scene at that time of year. I had been scouting for something to shoot towards Mt. Bachelor and, after giving up, I was walking back to my vehicle when this snow/ice formation caught my attention. I stood in about 6 inches of water here, trying not to move much. To me, the snow formation looks like a tentacle extending from Broken Top in the distance.
I've lost the raw file for this photo due to poor organization during my first couple days of shooting. It's probably shot at f11 but, I don't know the shutter speed.
Welcome, Hans - very nice first post! This is a true shade of blue on my CRT, and not necessarily too dark. I like the silhouette effect of the trees, since it adds to the morning mood of the image.
Welcome Hans! Very nice shot. Love the colors of blue in this. Nice eye. Let's see more.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I know better than to edit on a laptop and I've been in denial up until now (up until I posted a photo on a public forum). I'd like to get this sorted before posting other images.
This version looks much better to me on my desktop...but washed-out on my laptop. Please let me know your impressions.

I accidentally deleted the original image on this thread. I've reposted it here just in case it matters!

I know it is probably dorky but, the frame makes me feel cool (I'll probably get over it later)!
Thanks for viewing!
