"My ship came in...
...and I was at the airport."

I took a road trip north to see some Roseate Spoonbills, but apparantly they didn't get the memo.

No Roseates.

However, I did luck out as far as getting my first view of Sandhill Cranes.

Comments appreciated.

Very nice ,I envy you for living so near a place with so much birding opportunity. I am no expert but I like the space you gave them on the right to run in .

You mean these aren't Roseates!? Beautiful birds Lance. Where did you take these?

Thanks, guys.

Bill, I took these at Viera Wetlands. I drove up 95 from Boca to exit 191 Wickham Road and then west a couple of miles. The wetlands is actually part of Brevard County's Water Treatment Facility.
Viera

The Cranes were striking, very impressive even though I was a good distance from them...hard for me to guesstimate, but I would say something like 70 yards away...maybe closer, but I couldn't judge the distance in the open field.

Here are a few more shots:

Great job, Lance. I like the position of the birds in the frame.

Thanks Lance for the location. I was wondering if it was at Payne's Prairie, but nope, still a lot further south! Nice work!
