Hey guys and gals - I'm getting ready to purchase one or two LCD monitors and wondered if there are any opinions of the capability of the Samsung 244T 24inch widescreen.... TIA..

I know Costco is selling the samsung 24" wide for $499.00. I hear it's a great monitor.

The Samsung 244T was one of the two I narrowed my decision down to, but I ultimately ended up going with the BenQ FP241W because I got it about $90 cheaper than the Samsung was being offered at the time. As it is, its still $10 cheaper through Newegg (via rebate though). Samsung makes a great box, no question there, but I can't laude the BenQ enough. Easily the best looking computer screen I've ever laid my eyes on - calibrates beautifully, velvia like blacks and absolutely blinding brightness capabilities. The specs between the two are virtually identical, so like I said, either way, you're golden.

Edited - Erik, the Costco offering isn't the same monitor, its a piece of garbage compared to the 244t. Technically they aren't much different, but the panels are two different beasts altogether and the 245 (the Costco one) will suffer in contrast range and color reproduction in comparison (of course, its still gonna be a good unit for the price).

I have 2 Samsung 213T's and love them. 21.3" monitors that cost 899.00 each from Fry's in Los Angeles 3 years ago

Thanks - I wish the 213T's were still available - I prefer the 4x3 aspect ratio.
