Had a tip off of a good site for Little Owls so drove down early Sunday am, arrived at the site and peering through binoculars sure enough a family of three perched on an old dead tree....
Carefully made my way to a reasonable vantage point, set up, focused and off they flew..... had return a couple of times, so instead settled for this Greater Spotted Woodpecker, viewpoint is a touch steep for my taste as it was higher up the tree, but you take what you can....
Hi Phil,
Nice to see a GSW image different from the traditional digging for hidden peanuts (I have several of those myself!).
Looking forward to the Little Owl images, this is a species I have yet to make a single decent image of. Although I know of two locally they both like to sit on rather ugly agricultural machinery and really too far away from the lens too - very frustrating.

Will be returning for the Little Owls.
All the best
