Cloyses Lake sunset.

I did a little exploring trip this weekend. Cloyses Lake is in the valley east of Harrison Flats. The mosquitoes were pretty bad at this lake when we were there, but that is true of everywhere I've been this summer. FR388 is an alternate trailhead for Huron and Missouri and there is also a trail that leads to Pear Lake. Pear Lake should provide a good show for sunset or sunrise. On the pass leading to Pear lake there are three tarns that should provide an awesome reflection of Huron at sunrise.
FR388 is passable for pretty much any SUV with low range. There is a deep stream crossing at the start of the road. Staying to the downstream side of the crossing is best. The deepest part is probably 3 feet deep and is on the line straight across the stream. Airing down your tires to 20psi will make the bumps much softer.

Thanks for the pics and the info. I spent the last few days at Lake Ann and Harrison Flat. Skeeters were bad there, too.
Since I, once again, forgot to bring anything to read, I spent a lot of down time staring at my map. I saw Cloyses and Pear Lakes and thought that would make a nice trip, but was wondering what the views were like.
I forgot stuff to read, cards, etc too. Thursday afternoon was boring.
I thought about going to Harrison Flat too, but in the end decided to scout this spot. Too bad there are so many nice places to go in that area I'll definitely be going back to this area in the future.
Nice shots Mel! Skeeters were thick at Brainard area too! Wildflowers should be good there in about a week and I heard tell of some Columbines but did not see them myself.

Very pretty photo. I like it! I've stopped and gandered at the stream crossing and with my slightly lowriding 4wd finally wimped out. I've had a few regrets not giving it a go, and nice to see what's up the road.
