I will be going up to Big Bear Lake the beginning of August to meet up with a friend that will be camping up there. From what I understand, we will be camping right on the lake. I have never been there and was wondering if there are points of interest I should pay attention to. If anyone else is going to be up there, I would be pleased to meet you. :wavey:

You might want to visit the Moonridge Animal Park and Rescue Center in Big Bear. It's a sad, but interesting place. They do some good work at rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife. What broke my heart were the animals that were rescued, but can never be set free, including the beautiful wolves that were used for movies and then discarded. Here's the site if you'd like to check it out: http://www.moonridgezoo.org/map/animals3.html#timberwolf.

I usually camp at Green Valley Lake, halfway between Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead, and travel the short distances to both lakes. August should give you perfect camping weather.
