Another Proxy Falls Shot
Here's another try at Proxy Falls from my most recent trip there. It's really similar to the pano I posted before, but isn't quite as cut off at the top. This shot is not the most creative, but this straight on look is currently how I see the falls. I think it will take more visits to develop a different vision of this place for me.

For anyone who remembers the last Proxy post I did, I'd like to know if you find this one improved over the last shot (or vice versa).

Thanks for looking!

Mike,
I like it's alot better. As a matter of fact, I think it's excellent. The exposure of the water with no blown highlights is perfect along with the colors and processing. This is a falls I have to get to sometime. I would love to have this shot of yours in my portfolio.

Very nice Mike. There are so many things to explore in this photo and they all seem sharp and well exposed. The more I look, the more I like. Well done. I really can't wait to shoot this falls.

I like it a lot better, Mike - extremely well exposed and composed, and the saturation is just right. So many images of this falls are wildly oversaturated and kind of lose their PNW feel. The log is great - not sure how long it has been there, but it was in place about 3 years ago when I last visited. It's a great addition to the scene in my opinion. It looks to be western redcedar, and thus will be there awhile if the stream doesn't manage to move it! Nice image!

I can't say that I have ever seen a finer example of these falls than this... very good! :toast:

Thanks guys for all the comments! I thought this turned out really well also and it will definitely be in my portfolio. I just think that I can push the creative envelope a little more and come up with something different!

Darren-- This place isn't too hard to get to. Drive down I-5 to Eugene and take HWY 126 East approx 60 miles. Turn right onto the McKenzie Pass Scenic Drive (HWY 242) just past the McKenzie ranger station. The falls trailhead is just 8-9 miles down the road. There is much more than Proxy Falls in this area that would make a the drive here worthwhile. If you are interested, email me, and I can point out some other cool places down here.

As good of a shot as I've seen from here. I still need to make it up here. I see some abstracts I'd like to capture off the right side there.
