We had over 2 inches of rain here today and I was looking forward to more water drop photography when I got home this afternoon. Well the sun came out and dried that opportunity up (sorry couldn't resist). So instead I decided do do a little bird photography instead. I had set up what I thought was a nice perch for these guys, and of course it was ignored. This is the best shot I got of this little downy at the suet feeder. Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

I had a hard time deciding on the crop for this one. The left side has the feeder ad to the right was blank space. I did crop a bit off both sides in the above photo so at least the bird was not dead center in the image. Most of the bird mags would not be interested in this type of image so posting here is about all I will ever do with this one.
I played with the cropping a little more, this version is a bit better with most of the suet cropped out. This amounted to a 50+% crop. Does this one work better?

Well another fine shot David. I do like the second version slightly better because it focuses the viewer's attention on the subject. Well done!
Thanks to Bill for suggesting that I crop more off the left side, I was a bit hesitant with that much of a crop, wasn't sure it would look right.
Thanks Wayne for the great comment!
A great shot! I agree that the second crop has more impact and focuses on the wp more. You have to keep up the training with these birds. You will get them to use the perch someday.

The feeder is hanging off the deck and I had the camera set up in the house shooting through the open sliding glass door.
Thanks Wayne for the great comment!
