This is kind of a weird photo, but it looked so nice and cool when I was sorting through some images from last winter in the midst of our heat wave -- so it's a visual squishee! Hard to believe we were in a deep freeze just six months ago..!
Tom, I remember this from this winter. I shot the same scene. Man was the trail slippery. I think I had more ice and less snow...which wasnt as photogenic as this.

Love that black water. It does look slick and cold. I'd be constantly worrying about slipping and breaking my camera. I'm very much enjoying my summer leisure but, this is a nice winter scene. When I hold my hand over the foot bridge, the photo takes on a whole new feel.

I like it. it's got BURRRRRRRR factor
Anyway, I like the mood and the undisturbed snow on the rails is a stroke of luck, as it looks like there had been a fair a mount of traffic on the bridge.

Tom, I prefer blue raspberry to vanilla !
Pretty nice shot here. I would like to make it out to this area in the winter sometime. This is just perfect for the weather we've been having lately! I'll second Hans on the black water. It's beautiful and mysterious...
I'm ok with the bridge tom but I think the right side could use some contrast and brightness to keep up with the contrasty bridge. I wish I knew as much about rocks as you as it would make these lava layer amphitheaters twice as interesting and beautiful as they already are!
Thanks for the comments - I try tinkering with this one a bit more, especially on the cropping ideas. I was about a day late getting up there, and the ice and snow were melting fast. Thus, the bare branch poking in from the right. But this is one of those spots that is very easy to reach in winter weather, so I'll be up there again!
BTW, Rick, I agree - it's scary slick on that little switchback beyond the bridge. I was wearing the traction soles that I normally use for creek walking, and wouldn't have been able to make it around that bend without them.
Weird thought for a muggy day: we're only four months from winter weather returning!
