I was trying to depict a new fern sprouting amid the decay of other organic material on the forest floor. I'm guessing that most are going to feel the scene is too busy and/or messy. Then again, sometimes you guys surprise me
I love the way you see the little folk in the forest Curtis. Nice choice of DOF and the bug-roadmap on the log is probably more accurate than the topo map i've been relying on this
past week. I like it!
Quite the variety of life displayed in this one! I like the central fern; nice eye.To nit , The fern in the lower right partially throws off the balance.

Very nice detail of the forest floor Curtis! Nice arrangement of the elements.
yeah, the more I look at it, the more the other ferns seem to be a distraction.
Thanks for the comments guys. Rick, too bad I don't have your evil cloning talent! ;-) Maybe I can come up with a combination of crop and clone.

First thing I thought when I saw this was "Oh, look at the cute little fern." Then the other ferns started disctracting me. I didn't see the birth/death concept due to the vibrancy of the scene. I like the photo but I wish that the fern and moss were the only green available to look at.

I could feel this image more if the full fern was centered and it was the only live foliage in the frame.
