Little Owl
20D, 400/2.8 + 2x, ISO400, Manual Exposure, metering partial, 1/500 @ f10, A-327 + 393, Hide, ACR4.1 sharpened in CS3. Full Frame.

Hi,

This morning did not look promising, with dark low cloud cover and threatening rain, so it was with some trepidation that I set off for the Little Owl site at 5.00am knowing that I was going to have to use the 2x extender and would have to stop down to at least f10 for acceptable sharpness.

Arrived at the site to be greeted by clearing skies, and after a short wait I was treated to one of the images I was after, showing how well these endearing owls can blend into their surroundings.

All the best

Phil

Your tip off was excellent Phil, what a grand photo, why do owls clench their claw like that I've seen it a few times now, are they gettig ready to strike?

Lovely shot Phil - the texture and detail of the bark complement the bird perfectly.

They do have superb camouflage, I've got a few shots like this myself of a pair that I've been working on for several weeks.
I placed a post in for them so I could get some cleaner shots, they use regularly now, when I'm not there

Nice work.
