A quick update on wildflowers on Rabbit Ears Pass, specifically the Dumont Lake area...not quite as good as last year, but still nice. The two lower pictures show paintbrush at the lake, and columbines on up the trail toward the Ears. I was out to Stillwater Reservoir (gateway to the Flat Tops Wilderness) yesterday morning---lots of flowers between Bear Lake and Stillwater (the field with columbines in the upper left), maybe a little early above the reservoir at the wilderness boundary (paintbrush upper right). My sense is that both places will yield good results at least through next weekend.
Nice pics Rod!
I was at Sheriff Res. by Dunckley pass last weekend (just north of Stillwater ). An absolute plethora of flowers there. I'll try to post some pics but don't hold your breath.
The Columbines are plentiful but looked like they had just been thrashed by a storm. Still a lot of newer buds coming on.
