Bee on Thistle Repost
I rushed to put this photo online the first time since it was the first new image I've taken in quite awhile, and it needed a little more processing and some sharpening. I think its hard to appreciate the sharp areas in this web version. In print, it looks like you culd pick individual hairs off the bee. No one had commented so I deleted and re-posted.

This was taken this morning. 105mm macro, 1/1600s @ f2.8 ISO 200

I like it, your framing is very nice. I'd like to see more in focus though.

I intentionally kept the dof very narrow. I would have liked to have a little more of the bee in focus, but I wanted most of the flower blurry.

I like the composition and shallow focus on this, Ryan - it really works to frame the bee, with the back portion of the flower is so clearly blurred. I also like that you kept the entire flower structure in the frame (e.g., the green lower portions). That gives it a nice sense of a story (pollinating bee) as opposed to just the bee as the subject. Nice!

well done Ryan. As you mentioned, more of the bee in focus would be nice, but then you'd lose the framing your were going for. Doggone bugs, they just don't sit still!
