I was in Bend for the Summer Arts Festival this weekend and had a brief chance to get out and shoot.

The clouds peaked before the sunset, but I think this works.

Pretty, but the squarish crop doesn't work for me.
So...did you participate in the event or were you only a spectator?

I think it's a nice scene but I just don't know about the dead trees. I agree with my brother about the crop. Maybe some off the top?

Hi Rick and Erik, I shot it with the Pentax 67, so that's where the 4:5 ratio comes from. I think I will try a 2:3 crop and see.

I had a booth at the show. Sold a lot of photographs of Smith Rocks...

heh i never realized that you two had the same last name.

i kinda like the line of dead trees along the edge, like an accent.
my first thought was it would be a better shot if you moved up about 20 feet vertically, then after the crop was mentioned, i realized that would basically achieve the same result, somewhere around 2:3

a little more local contrast in the hills to get rid of the slight haze.
