I spent a couple of days in Yankee Boy Basin this weekend. I agree with the recent reports from Brenden and Bret regarding the wildflowers, however, this was my first time up there so I don't have anything to compare to. Most of the Columbines are in full bloom but some of the other flowers still are in the process.
This is one from the top of Lavender Col on Mt. Sneffels, about 13,600'.
Glad to see you got the posting issues resolved, Bob. Beautiful shot! I love the view looking down the valley, and ditto the comments on the positive impact of the snow. "Classic" is right on!
Thanks for the comments everyone. And thanks for the help posting Rick. I think I've got it now, although this one looks just a little sharp. Yes Todd, I did see Lizard Head. I'd say it's a little over 12 miles away from this spot. It's very clear in the original image. I had to get up pretty high to get a view over Gilpin Peak.
Just as a side comment, there was some discussion recently about the 5D. To give some an idea of what the camera does, although not visible in this smaller version, in the original, when enlarged, there are 12 people visible on the trail to Blue Lakes Pass. Granted, they are not in detail, but they are obviously hikers on the trail. And this was shot at 33mm.

5D, 24-105mm, polarizer.

Bob, this is a classic! I love the puffy whites in the sky. This just has "inviting summer scene in the Colorado high country" written all over it.
Did you notice Lizard Head poking up on the right side of the pic?
