I've been slowly working through some older images that I want to be part of my print "portfolio", and this was one of those shots that I kept meaning to get to. It was taken the summer of 2005 when I was shooting with 6x7 medium format (a short lived, 5 month time period). The sun was in the process of setting, and it illuminated this patch of trees along the river. I used my 180mm lens to isolate the trees and create a graphical composition. My scan from a couple of years back was terrible, and poorly processed...an area I've grown greatly in. I've been debating how much red to add to the yellow, but decided to simply match the color to the velvia slide (resulting in a greenish-yellow). All comments are welcome, and thanks for looking.

Joel, I really like the colors and detail in this image. The band of bright trees is striking. I feel like the rocks on the right side of the falls are not as visually interesting as those on the left and I wonder if cropping some of the right might strengthen the overall impact of the image.
Joel - looks really good to me. I would gently disagree with Chuck as a crop from the right will disrupt the line (or arc) of the brighter trees on that side, which I really like. I actually prefer a crop from the bottom, eliminating the second cascade but keeping the first one and making an almost square image. Interestingly, that still might end up changing the view of the right side that Chuck was commenting on.
Then again - it's pretty good as is to!
Nice shot, CJ
