Guillemot - Uria aalge
Taken at Skomer Island in Wales, UK a couple of weekends ago.

I like the image but the sun was quite harsh, the feet aren't in view and there's not enough room on the left for me... worth adding some canvas?

First time I've seen this species so very pleased to get a shot dispite the minor nits. Was messing with various apertures and this one was wide open.

Comments welcome

techs:
1d2, 500/4 is, 1/5000th, f4.5, iso 200, -0.67, tripod
Nearly full frame, just shaved some from the right as it was very centrally composed

Hi Greame

I was there two weeks ago aswell, this looks like it was taken down the steps waiting for the ferry. I like the shot, good pose great control of the whites considering the bright hard light.

Nice one :toast:

Yes it was Colin. By far the best spot for Razorbills, Puffins in flight and Guillemots ..all at the end of the day...was disappointing photography wise until we waited for the ferry

Great place for photo`s spent a few days down there myself early on this year, and like this shot, detail is very good, would look better with feet though

ok Brian, nearly wide open. Well spotted  Techs were crap anyway, this was one of the only shots without another bird being in the BG. The other shots had crap techs too  Thanks for the comments

Great shot Graeme with good exposure given the harsh light. I quite like the composition as it is.

Like it, well controlled exposure, would be nice to see the feet fully but appreciate that was not possible in this instance....

Hi Graeme,

You certainly got some nice light, and believe me that rock is the best on the island for this type of shot even if the wardens do refer to it as Razorbill Rock as they tend to dominate it's use. Hard to get feet in the shot there though unless you're about 7 feet tall!!

No need to add canvas imo Graeme there's plenty of room, love that blue

Looks like you got more out of the trip than the rest of us mate...

Top stuff.
