took this, oh i don't know, in about 2000. never showed anyone nor printed it. i find the mountains in the far back a bit purple and i certainly would have been better off waiting about 4 more hours until sunset.

i wish i could come up with a nice story like i've been seeing here lately

opinions please

edit: nikon f3 || fuji rvp || nikkor 20mm or 28mm || shutter not recorded

The sky makes this image intriguing, it seems to dwarf the spindly trees, I wnder what this would like convted to B/W? I like it in any case!

Love those clouds. Interesting comp...sort of attractive, but it feels heavy on the left side.

I like it Michael. I too wonder what it may look like converted to B&W.

thanks for the input, i haven't done much b/w conversion as i'm kind of a purist. i.e. as part of my creative process i can't even seem to crop things after the fact, it has to be done in camera, i don't convert to b/w because i don't see in b/w, try not to take photos in bad light with the goal of fixing them later, things like that. things like that aren't really conscious decisions. anyway that's sort of off topic

i've reposted the image with the magenta taken out of the foreground and i'll try a b/w maybe early next week, i'm pretty busy right now.

I think at sunset you probably would have lost those foreground trees to the shadows. This mid day exposure works well. The warm/cool color combo works too well for me to want a B&W conversion.

As to not cropping things after the shot.....why? The best photograph cannot always be found within the same dimensions. I can understand your purist views on things for the most part though.

Marc,

it's not that i refuse to do it, but i sit here and try and try and try and just can't make the decision when i'm not under the pressure to get the shot, after many years of trying, i've basically come to accept that i just can't seem to do it. i can do it to other's shots though. i've been paying more attention to my motivations and creative process lately and it's often very weird the way my mind works.

then again i'm a photographer

this image sits on the fence for me, but i'll take all your input and maybe i'll add it to the mix
