Tystie (Black Guillemot)
One of the few auks whose range is expanding - probably because they don't depend on sandeels. Very pretty wee birds but sit low down on cliffs, tending to give a rather unappealing viewing angle. Dark plumage against dark rocks and two bright white patches make exposure a challenge also. I have gone for detail in the blacks here but am aware that there is a small blown area in the wing patch.

Hi Malcolm,

You have covered any nits yourself, the exposure looks good here and any blown whites are not evident at this size, like that you can see the red inside the lower bill....

Hi Malcolm you have covered the nits yourself but it is great to get them with their beaks open. :toast:

Inside of the mouth and a foot showing - key elements to a nicce Black Guillemopt portrait so well done.

Nice John. Nits covered and different colouring of the mouth compared to the Guillemots I was shooting... great looking bird :toast:
