I'm wondering if it's bad to post an image in two places at once. Like if you post something to the Man and Nature gallery, is it frowned upon to also post it here, on the PNNW board? I notice that the Man & Nature gallery seems to be nation wide, so it attracts a different audience. Is this true?
Figured it was better to ask first than look like an ass.
Darien, there's no problem with double posting. Also, the regional forums are the local ones, and the ones like Flora, Earth Sea andSky, and Man & Nature...attract views from around the globe.
Hey, Rick - for the benefit of us newbies, can you elaborate a bit on the "global" forums? I've been kind of intimidated about posting stuff there. How do the veterans decide what to post in those areas?
Think geek. You're a geek, I'm a geek, the pros are all geeks. If you want feedback on a photo, post it where you feel it will do you the most good. I've been posting for five or six years now (best thing that's ever happened to my photography) and no one has ever shredded on me. Aside from that, even if they do shred, they're shredding your photo, not you.

Sometimes they even shred, I mean critique your critique of someones else's image, but of course respectfully.

I post all my second rate junk on PNW and all the good stuff on ESS.........oh, wait. I didn't say that. kidding.... I am a geek though. Otherwise I wouldn't post stuff here at all. ESS is as friendly as any photo forum online. I encourage everyone to post there too. Posting in both venues equals even more exposure and comments on your images.

Hmm... another newbie question - Marc, what is ESS? I did a Google search and came up with a security software site..!
He's refering to the Earth, Sea & Sky Forum on the main NPN site. Some guys/gals post different versions of the same photo on ESS and here, or sometimes the same photo, or sometimes completely different ones. It doesn't matter how you work it. I think the guys on the PNWNP forum here tend to get more specific with their critiques, but some of the mother ship forums are good too, especially the ESS.

Thanks, Ryan - I didn't make the connection with the acronym, but I have looked through those other areas. Some very nice stuff over there. As I said in my earlier post, intimidating!
Tom, don't sweat it. Even if high quality was a prerequisit, you'd qualify!

Nice of you to say that, Curtis, but every time I come here my eyes sort of pop out at the level of quality that streams through! I'm learning a lot, and definitely rethinking how I take pictures, so that's a good thing. I'm glad I stumbled over here..!
