Sand Eel portrait
Hi All,

Taken on Skomer a couple of weeks ago.

I was lucky enough to spend a week on the island as a volunteer assistant warden, and so had plenty of chance to photograph the wildlife.

Canon 20D | 100mm-400mm F5.6 @ 320mm f/5.6, 1/200 | Tripod and on Camera Flash

R so you were the one wondering round with the canon, great place to spend some time I would think, isn`t this shot just the most classic image U can think of, nicely taken.

Paul,

Did I bump into you whilst on the island?

Hi Rob - flash has made the image go a tad flat, you could do with a diffuser - but a classic puff-puff image all the same, well done sir :toast:

Andy,

Thanks for your comment.

I'm interested in what you say about the flash. A diffuser and maybe less flash power may have helped. Also maybe using the flash off camera to give a bit of direction?

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to flash, so I appreciate the comment.

Hi Rob,
Nice shot , agree with Andy regarding the flash , I would recommend buying a Stoffen , they only cost £15 and they work a treat.

Kind regards
Andy...

Hi Rob

Nice shot, flash is not the dark art it used to be, the eye has responded to flash perfectly.

Rob, I was there on the 09/06/07, and the place was crawling with us camera people.
