Having a play with very shallow shots at f2.8 and came up with this one.
The stamen's are on the end of small yellow long stems, that come out of the middle of the flower.I singled out one stamen and kept all the stems of the others to get this look.
Then it was combonation of saturation, levels, and contrast to get the "flame" effect you see here(well it looks like flames to me anyway ).
Again i spect this kind of photography is'nt to everyones taste, but i like taking them and it's something different to come up with .
absolutely beautiful. personally i think if just a LITTLE bit of the stamens' stalk could be seen trailing into the flames it would give the focus point a better context.
Mark and Graeme - Having shot at f2.8 you are NOT going to get much stalk(you can see some on the big original version tho).Anyway i only wanted it to show just a little(which it has).
This style of photography is called SOA(Shallow On Arrival) where the main point of focus is shown and the rest of the image is thrown out, as you can see in my shot.

Thank you for looking
Stunning colour and sure does look like flames.
Definately to my taste, photography is supposed to be Art after all.

That is absolutely fantastic - the colours, position of the stamen, underlying curves - everything. Well done.
