Razorbill - Alca torda
Taken on my recent visit to Skomer. Great looking bird I reckon!

Unfortunately, lighting was harsh with strong midday sun.

Comments appreciated

Was ensuring I got a shot of this before it flew off so my techs were geared up for flight shots hence the odd techs

techs:
1d2, 500/4is, iso200, f4, 1/8000th! Tripod

Hi Graeme

Just took some shots of this bird last weekend at Bempton. Great looking bird and nice detail too. The only thing IMHO is, if you had managed to show more of the yellow from inside the bill. That I think would have made a good shot, great. Once again, IMHO.

Good shot, considering the light. Amazing birds really, such strange faces.

Despite the 'strange' techs a great shot.... is that really a blue sky

Gra, top shot from you again from the weekend. Maybe a little tight at the bottom IMHO. Your copyright mark looks a little squeezed in there. Impressive detail, sharpness and exposure as usual. One question regarding composition, the line of the beak follows nicely into the top left hand corner of the frame, is this a rule of thumb or unintentional? I would normally nip off a bit of the empty space from the top but feel it fits nicely and works well with the beak line.

Yeah it is tight at the bottom Croz, full frame unfortunately. Composition is just luck. I chose to leave it full frame at the top due to the direction it was looking in. Didn't consider the line of the bill. That's a bit too deep and thoughtful for me  The whites and blacks look terrible on my work monitor yet alright at home

Looks good too me Graeme, nice exposure and the blue sea b/g looks superb and full frame too

Looking at a 2-3 day stay on the island next year me thinks.

Nice work.
