Here's a shot taken just off the main trail around Lost Lake. As you can see, our camping trip was really socked in by clouds and rain...The clouds made some great diffused light for shooting these forest scenes.

Let me know what ya think.

5D, 17mm, ISO 100, f11, 1/6 sec, CircPol.

Eric - I enjoy the small spot of sporatic color in the foreground, but I have trouble easily traveling through the image. The log across the water stops me half way. I do like how you controlled the whites of the clouds...

I love that spot, Eric - that's one of the best cedar bogs around, and the only one I know of that has a handy boardwalk to keep your feet dry! You've done a nice job capturing the feeling of that spot in this image - the only comments I would add is to have a bit more room between the left border and those cedar trunks, and maybe a bit less on the right. The light spots bleeding through the dark edge is a bit distracting.

The color is great, and I really like the detail and textures in the cloudy skies - you did a great job of not only working with the cloudy conditions up there (thinking about your Lost Lake shot), but actually capturing them in a way that gives a really nice sense of place. Well done!

I checked this out earlier, and really like it, Eric... I'd leave just as is...

Ya know...this comp works well amidst the semi chaos. The elements dont battle with eachother.
Can ya pull away for a coast trip on Tuesday or Wednesday?

Thanks all for the comments.
Rick, I've pretty much got all my vacation plans tied up throughout August. I could make an after work evening shoot but doubt I could get any time off for daytime shoots. What did you have in mind?

I like it. Subtly beautiful. It takes special talent to visually arrange such intricate areas,
