Hi folks, I am writing this from the most expensive hotel in Bellevue - Overlake Hospital. I've been here almost a week now after my surgery to remove a large section of my colon. As I mentioned in a previous post I was diagnosed with diverticulosis. I've struggled with this for years. Whenever I would mention less than stellar health this is what was dragging me down. And it dragged me down a lot!!
Nancy brought in my laptop today and that has been sweet to get caught up on recent events after doing so much sleeping...
Nancy & I are hoping I can come home sometime midweek. That cannot come fast enough for me. All these tubes are getting OLD... Not to mention not eating for a solid week.....
Anyway I miss yall!! I haven't been out shooting in far tooooo loooooong so once I'm healed up I'd love to hook up with some folks and do some shooting and lead more workshops!!!
My best thoughts for you and your recovery. I go under the knife on Thursday for surgery as well...sigh. You'll be back out there before you know it.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery! Sounds like you are staying positive. There should be plenty of Summer left when you get back behind the lens!
Cheers,
Mike
Good luck to you, Rick - I've got a co-worker headed in for that exact surgery in about a week. She'll be out for about six weeks, so it sounds like a pretty big deal. Like you, she has suffered with it for awhile, and is looking forward to putting the misery behind her. Hope you have a smooth recovery!
Rick,
Hey buddy, I know how you feel now but in no time you'll feel better than ever. What you had is a MAJOR surgery. Don't push it and make sure you follow the Doc's orders orders to a T. Get well soon!

Great to hear from you Rick! keep the positive thoughts and hurry up and wait!
my surgery wasn't as serious, but the recovery has been long and I know how it can seem like it'll never end. But you'll be out shooting in no time!
Ricky!!! Isn't it nice that the hospitals have wi-fi now? I think I might even be able to bear a stay if I had to. Good to hear from ya and glad you are getting through this. Keep us posted. I still want to come up your way. Maybe early fall?
Rick - good luck with the recovery and get well soon.

Man that really sucks! You'll be up shooting before you know it. I am recovering from diverticulosis now. It has been two weeks since I went into the ER for blood and CT scans and a crap load of antibiotics. It is a very painful condition. Hope you get well soon and have a speedy recovery.
Hi folks, I am finally home!!! After nine days in the hospital there really is no place like home!!! I'm still REALLY sore and amazingly simple things can make me grimace in pain. But I'm home!!!! I went a full week without any food at all. That was clearly the hardest challenge in this experience. I'm on a very soft food diet now and the toast I had yesterday was pure heaven!!
Thanks for all your kind words and as time progresses I will be doing a bit more each day.
