Spent 24 hours up at Mt Rainier...got back 3 hours ago. Going back Thursday/Friday. The mountain was shrowded in clouds, but it didn't bother me. I love the wet, foggy forests and high alpine scenes. There were very few people around the park today, and that was nice too.
The wildflower scene, well...isn't yet. Probably in another week. the paintbrush was abounding and so were the avalanch lillies. There were spots of beargrass too, but really nothing too exciting yet. Saw this cute little guy today wandering with his momma...not much of a comp, but I got a few snapshots off...and poorly photoshopped for a quick post.
Nice, Rick. Certainly a common site at the aptly titled location. Which places did you visit and intend on visiting the next time up? I think my vacation time is favorably planned for the beginning of august.
Thanks Trevor, I hiked the paradise trail...way up...then did the tourist loops behind the visitor center. My vacation was scheduled for the first week in Aug as well...but conflict in my work schedule made me take it this week or not until October. Next time, I plan to check out the same areas, but also Pinnacle Peak. I was going to do the Sunrise jaunt, but a 4 hour drive from Paradise to look at clouds wasn't appealing at the moment. It was close though.
Anything in the tatoosh is on my list for this year. I have yet to do very many long hikes in rainier. I am going for something that requires a little more effort ( I am becoming more masochistic with age) and a higher vantage point for Rainier. I am not entirely committed to paradise, but will probably end up doing it just for tradition's sake. I'm sure I'll end up crossing paths with one of you guys, whether I know it or not.
That little guy really pops off the green background but like you said...not the greatest of comps.

This guy is cute, though. Most of my family goes crazy for shots like this. They love the baby animals. I'm going for the Jefferson, Hood, Rainier trifecta over the next two weeks, so I appreciate the information. Although, I've never been out to Adams--there's got to be some action going on over there too. Ahh... So many mountains, so little time!

As has already been stated, nice bold color, but the compo is weak. Regardless of the technicals, I love it as I am huge deer fan. The little ones especially!

I sure is cool to get this close to the little guys. Nice shot.
