Imogene Pass Impassable

I was driving over Imogene Pass today when a big rain / hail storm hit. There were two mud slides on the Telluride side. One is barely passable, the other is pretty much impassable. I assume they'll close the road or get this fixed pretty soon. But in case you're planning on heading there in the next day or two, I'd avoid it.

I'll also post a quick wildflower update, pretty much echoing what others have said. I've been to American Basin, Stony Pass, Governor Basin, Imogene, and Yankee Boy. Everything is pretty much average for this time of year. Not disappointing, not mind-blowing. Yankee Boy is the only thing that appears disappointing...quite a few flowers, but not much color...mostly white cow parsnip (I think that's what it is). I just drove past, though, so I'm sure there's still lots of good photo ops.

Grant; i was going to go to Yankee boy on thu-fri (braving the expected major amt of storms)--do you think it will be better the following week? i could hold off another week if it looks like it might improve.

I was at Yankee Boy last wed, and the Columbines were in bloom, mountain bluebells, paintbrush, parsnip was there too. I also saw hints of pink flowers & yellow flowers. I am processing some again tonight, and started last night, I will post some here. I know you Guys knows more about the bloom than I, but it seemed pretty nice while I was there.

I'm trying to get some time to visit Yankee Boy in the next week or two. Do you think a Ford Explorer 4X4 can make it or should I plan on hiking?

Yeah Dave, you can make it, just pick you route and you'll do fine. I went up it in the dark, trying to scout a location after dinner,

Stan - I don't think Yankee Boy will be better next week. There are lots of flowers, just more cow parsnip than I've seen in years past. Like I said, I didn't walk around there, as I headed up higher. But there should be lots of good compositions to be found. In fact, the best shots I have of Yankee Boy have no flowers in them.
