Hen Harrier 'female'
One from my earlier trip to the Hebrides - what she appears to be carrying in her talons is just vegitation where she had dived and missed her prey.

Canon 1D MkII + 500 + x1.4 iso 250 1/1000 at f6.3 cropped to over 50% of original

Hi Dave, nice shot with a very good OOF BG :toast: To me it looks more like a 2cy male - beginning to change the tailfeathers already :wavey:

Ditto above comments, have been trying to get this shot at Blackfoot Sands RSPB site, sadly nothing. Nice one David.

Agree she/he is going to be well miffed when she/he finds out what has been caught for tea (maybe it's vegetarian?)

A nasty dust bunny needs zapping (more or less in the middle of the image) David but a great photo. The head turn has allowed us to see that lovely eye.

Nice stuff david, and looks like it was a productive trip. Might I be so bold as to ask which island(s) as I'm pencilling in a Hebridean trip as a possible for next May.

Hi Mark

This was taken on North Uist in early May when the opportunities for images of this species are few and far between. They are seen much more in June and July when feeding young but then not so good for some other species!
